On June 17th at 10:39 a.m. Lt. Eric Naugle responded to an audible alarm at United Refrigeration located at 5225 Habersham Street. When he arrived, he drove to the rear of the building where he saw a gold Ford Explorer with a Florida tag. The vehicle was parked next to an area of the building where the metal siding had been forcibly removed. Lt. Naugle immediately saw a black male, later identified as Novere Demetric Walker, exit the building from the forced opening in the wall and get into the Explorer. At that time, the Explorer fled the scene and a chase ensued.
The chase ended when the driver, later identified as Travis Coleman, ran the stop sign at West Park Avenue and Willet Street and all three occupants jumped out of the vehicle while it was still moving. The vehicle came to rest in the yard of 2128 Willet Street. With the assistance of theCity of Brunswick Georgia Police Department, all three suspects were apprehended.
• Novere Demetric Walker, age 28 of Orlando Florida, was charged with smash and grab burglary and obstructing Law Enforcement.
• Viron Lark, age 40 of Orlando Florida, was charged with party to the crime of smash and grab burglary, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, obstruction of Law Enforcement and possession of marijuana.
• Travis Coleman, age 42 of Orlando Florida, was charged with party to the crime of smash and grab burglary, obstruction of law enforcement, fleeing and attempting to elude 2 counts, failure to stop at a stop sign 3 counts, improper right turn 2 counts, failure to signal lane change, failure to maintain lane 2 counts, speeding 2 counts, improper lane change, ran red light, driving on wrong side of road, and passing in a no passing zone.
