Prince Harry & Ed Sheeran Team Up For World Mental Health Day

Two of the world’s most famous gingers have paired up to raise awareness about World Mental Health Day.

“Both Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran want to ensure that not just today but every day, you look after yourself, your friends and those around you,” reads the caption on a short video shared on Instagram by both Sheeran and the Sussex Royal.

“There’s no need to suffer in silence – share how you’re feeling, ask how someone is doing and listen for the answer. Be willing to ask for help when you need it and know that we are all in this together.”

In the lighthearted video, Sheeran rings a doorbell that chimes “God Save The Queen” and Prince Harry opens the door and jokes “it’s like looking in the mirror.” They sit down together but it quickly becomes apparent they’re not on the same page.

“This for me is a subject and conversation which is just not talked about enough,” Prince Harry says. “I think people all over the world are really suffering.”

Sheeran responds: “People don't understand what it's like for people like us. With the jokes and snide comments. I just feel like it's time we stood up and said, ‘we're not going to take this anymore. We're ginger and we're going to fight.’”

When Prince Harry points out they are there to talk about mental health, Sheeran deletes “Gingers United” from his laptop.

The two men end the video with a serious message. “Reach out, make sure your friends, strangers look out for anyone who might be suffering in silence; we're all in this together," says Prince Harry.

The video was shot at Ivy Cottage, the home of Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

World Mental Health Day is marked on Oct. 10 every year. This year’s focus is suicide prevention.
