Brunswick Teen Thief Finally Caught

Brunswick teen charged with 4 car thefts, 41 burglary counts over 2 months.

   PRESS RELEASE: Capt. Marissa Tindale March 2, 2017. After a lengthy criminal investigation, Jaylen Michael Parland, age 17 of Brunswick has been charged with numerous thefts in Glynn County. Thefts from vehicles have occurred since the beginning of January in areas such as Fairway Oaks, Beverly Shores, Belle Point, Calebs Crossing, Powers Landing, Hardwood Forest, Winter Chase and on St. Simons Island. 

   Four motor vehicles were stolen and were later recovered in the month of February:• 2016 Honda Civic reported stolen on 2-3-17 at 11:13 a.m. from Legacy Drive, Brunswick.• 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser reported stolen on 2-4-17 at 10:52 a.m. from E. Third Street, St. Simons Island. • 2001 Jeep Cherokee reported stolen on 2-4-17 at 8:51 a.m. from Hardwood Forest Drive, Brunswick.• 2010 Chevrolet Malibu reported stolen on 2-9-17 at 5:43 a.m. from Dalton Cody Drive, Brunswick.

   Jaylen Parland was arrested on 3-2-17 at 10:00 and charged with 41 counts of burglary in the second degree, four counts of theft by taking, giving false name to law enforcement and loitering or prowling. A search warrant was conducted at his residence on Stafford Avenue in Brunswick and several weapons and stolen property has been recovered. More charges and arrests are anticipated. The investigation is being conducted by Inv. Brandon Gregory, 912-279-2914. All of the reported vehicles entered and the vehicles stolen had been left unlocked. BRUNSWICK, GA. | A Brunswick teen was arrested as the suspect in an incredible string of thefts including four vehicles and 41 counts of burglary, all in the past two months, Glynn County police said.

The thefts of and from vehicles occurred since early January in subdivisions along and near U.S. 17 and Harry Driggers Boulevard north of Brunswick and on St. Simons Island, Capt. Marissa Tindale said in a release.

Four motor vehicles were stolen in February, two on the same day, and later recovered, she said.

The vehicles were a 2016 Honda Civic reported stolen Feb. 3, a 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser and a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, both reported taken Feb. 4, and a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu on Feb. 9, Tindale said.

After a lengthy investigation, a search warrant was conducted at a residence on Stafford Avenue in Brunswick, Tindale said. During the search, officers recovered several weapons and property that had been reported stolen, Tindale said.

Jaylen Michael Parland, 17, has been charged with 41 counts of second degree burglary, four counts of theft by taking, giving a false name to law enforcement officers and loitering and prowling, she said.

All the vehicles that were stolen or burglarized were unlocked, Tindale said.
