Here's Today's Feel-Good Story:

A recent study found that lab animals that took psychedelics adopted skills as adults that were previously limited to just childhood.

Scientists have also discovered that there are critical window periods of brain development are induced by psychedelic compounds such as psilocybin, commonly found in mushrooms and LSD, which open following traumatic brain injury or stroke.

These periods can be used for psychedelic therapy that would keep the windows open long enough to recover more brain function than otherwise would be the case.

“Rats slowly infused with low doses of DMT after a stroke had fewer damaged tissues and more extensive recovery,” wrote National Geographic. “Brain levels of anti-inflammatory compounds and sigma-1 proteins were abundant in the treated animals.”
