Governor Kemp orders ‘shelter in place’ to take effect Friday at 6pm

The office of Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a statement announcing a statewide “shelter in place” order as a way to address the spread of COVID-19 across the Peach State.

The order will go into effect tomorrow, Frday, April 3rd at 6 p.m. and will last until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 13.

Governor Kemp also canceled classes for K-12 in-person public schools for the remainder of the school year.

According The Georgia Department of Public Health's Thursday 7pm update 5,444 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported.

The total deaths related to COVID-19 is now 176. A total of 1,129 confirmed cases are hospitalized. Over 22,000 test have been conducted in the state.

The DPH will release updated numbers daily at noon and 7 p.m.
