For fans of "Ted Lasso" who tuned in to the Season 4 series finale this week, a significant change was evident almost right away. The opening credits, usually accompanied by the theme performed by Marcus Mumford, was still there, but it was Brandi Carlisle's cover version viewers heard for the first time. According to executive producer/series star Brendan Hunt (who plays Coach Beard), the change had been planned for some time.
"Jason (Jason Sudeikis) has talked about for a while, that at some point the theme song should be presenting the change and what the show is now, from the men’s team to the women’s team, and we should have it being sung by a woman’s voice," Hunt said. "But he wanted the handover to be graceful in some way and not just suddenly do it. I think he just saw this opportunity here and went to and went to Brandi for it." It sounds like the change is permanent, if the show moves forward; no official word on a potential Season 5 has been given as yet
