Irma Update
The storm is still causing dangerous conditions in the area. Please stay off the roads. There are downed trees and wires on many roads throughout the county, and trees and wires are still falling.
Rain and tropical storm winds continue. On St. Simons, winds of 50 mph continue with gusts of to 70 mph. Trees and power lines are down there as well.As the day continues, conditions will begin to improve. The county is currently discussing re-entry plans, but the desire is for a significant amount of utility repairs to take place before calling off the evacuation.
Flooding is widespread throughout the area, especially as we make our way towards hi towards high tide.Again, numerous power lines and trees are down. Please stay off the roads!.
